Frequently Asked Questions

If you would like to register for HDR Induction, please click the 'Register for HDR Induction' button at the top of the page and follow the prompts to register. Once you have registered, you are also able to modify your registration by returning to the registration page and logging in using the email and password you used in your original registration.

Attendance at HDR Induction is expected for all incoming HDR students. The event will include essential information about your candidature. In-person and online attendance options are available to help accommodate all students.

If you are unable to attend HDR Induction, please contact the Researcher Development Unit at graduateresearch-training@uow.edu.au as soon as possible.

When you register for HDR Induction, you are registering for both days of the event (Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 July). It is expected that registrants will attend both days. If for some reason you are unable to attend the whole event, you will need to email the Researcher Development Unit at graduateresearch-training@uow.edu.au as soon as possible to make alternative arrangements.

We encourage all students who are able to to attend HDR Induction in-person. This event is designed for live, in-person delivery to allow for questions, discussions and activities. We understand, however, that this will not be possible for some, specifically those not yet in the country. Students who are unable to attend in-person will be able to join online.

If you know you will not be able to attend induction in-person, when registering please select that you will be attending online. If you register to attend in person, but circumstances mean you are unable to make it and would like to join online instead, please contact the GRS Training & Development Team at graduateresearch-training@uow.edu.au to let them know.

During the HDR Induction event attendees will receive essential information about their candidature, learn ways to succeed, and meet others in their cohort. They will gain insight into the process of an HDR degree, important information about ethics and research integrity, and an understanding of the various support services available to students, as well as much more.

Students are asked to bring with them a laptop or personal device as the event will require you to complete tasks on a device. If you do not have a laptop or device to complete work on, please email us at graduateresearch-training@uow.edu.au so that we can make arrangements for you.
