Your HDR research has given you more than academic expertise — it’s equipped you with powerful skills that can shape your future in academia or industry.

The HDR Futures series, hosted by the UOW Careers & Employability team, is a three-part program designed to help you:

  • Recognise your transferable skills
  • Showcase them with confidence
  • Connect effectively with others

While each workshop can be attended on its own, the sessions are designed to build on each other. For the most impact, we recommend attending all three.

Each session runs for 1.5 hours and includes lunch and networking in the final 30 minutes.

Workshop 1: HDR Futures – Unlocking Your Transferable Skills

When: Wednesday 1 October, 12.00–1.30pm

Where: Thought Bubble, Building 11, Wollongong Campus

Your research journey is already building the skills employers want, butdo you know how to spot and describe them?

In this highly practical session, you’ll discover the transferable skills embedded in your research and learn how to articulate them with confidence. Through interactive activities, you’ll practise framing your experience as compelling stories you can use in resumes, interviews, and networking conversations.

You’ll leave with a stronger understanding of the value you bring to professional settings and how to communicate it clearly.
