Your HDR research has given you more than academic expertise — it’s equipped you with powerful skills that can shape your future in academia or industry.

The HDR Futures series, hosted by the UOW Careers & Employability team, is a three-part program designed to help you:

  • Recognise your transferable skills
  • Showcase them with confidence
  • Connect effectively with others

While each workshop can be attended on its own, the sessions are designed to build on each other. For the most impact, we recommend attending all three.

Each session runs for 1.5 hours and includes lunch and networking in the final 30 minutes.

Workshop 3: HDR Futures – Pitching Yourself and Building Connections

When: Wednesday 15 October, 12.00–1.30pm

Where: Thought Bubble, Building 11, Wollongong Campus

Networking doesn’t have to feel forced or uncomfortable.

In this final session, you’ll learn how to connect authentically and confidently with professionals in your field. You’ll be guided in crafting a concise, engaging elevator pitch that highlights your skills and makes a memorable impression.

Through practical activities, you’ll practise introducing yourself, adapting your message on the spot, and engaging in professional conversations with ease.

You’ll leave with new confidence to put your pitch into action at conferences, networking events, or industry meetings.
