Workshop description:

Generative AI tools have become a common part of both research practice and everyday life, and are now being used across multiple stages of the HDR journey — from literature review and data analysis through to coding, writing, and thesis editing. 

But how do you use these tools in a way that strengthens your research without compromising its integrity? And how do you make informed decisions about when and how to use them effectively? 

This workshop will explore: 

• Applications of generative AI in HDR practice – how these tools are currently being used across different stages of research 
• Responsible research practice – including key considerations around academic integrity, data security, and acknowledging AI use in your thesis 
• Good judgement in practice – strategies for identifying the limitations of AI and making appropriate decisions about its use in your own research context 

This workshop will provide a clear understanding of best-practice use of generative AI and what is expected of HDR candidates in maintaining quality, transparency, and research integrity.
