Workshop description:

Selecting the most suitable thesis format is one of the earliest, and most important, decisions in your research journey.

This workshop demystifies the two main HDR thesis types: the traditional monograph and the compilation (thesis by publication). We’ll explore their structures, expectations, advantages, and potential challenges, helping you understand how each format aligns with your project aims, disciplinary norms, and career goals.

In this session, you will learn:

  • Key differences between compilation and traditional theses

  • How to assess which format suits your research topic and trajectory

  • Common pitfalls and strategies for success in each format

  • Supervisory and administrative considerations to keep in mind
