Introduction to Modelling
Presenter: Dr Brad Wakefield
Thursday 5 October
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: 67.102
This workshop introduces the concept of modelling, its role in statistics, and common assumptions and uses.
Modelling is the process of creating a representation of real-world phenomena in order to predict or explain their behaviour. In statistics, the process of defining, fitting, analysing, and interpreting models is crucial for making valid statistical inferences. In this workshop, we will explore the concept of statistical models, how to interpret results derived from them, and the common assumptions that underpin our models. Our focus will be on regression modelling and its potential application to addressing common research questions.
Learning Outcomes:
Candidates will learn the conceptual fundamentals of modelling, focus on regression modelling and its application, and practice developing models for their research.
Accessibility:
67.101 is a wheelchair accessible lecture theatre. A number of blue badge parking spaces are available immediately outside building, and an accessible toilet is situated beside the lecture theatre.
