Thinking Statistically: Principles of Statistics and Analysis

Presenter: Dr Brad Wakefield

Thursday 12 October
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: 67.102

Reading the statistics section of a paper can feel like deciphering a foreign language for many people. The technical jargon and complex terminology often hide the underlying principles of important concepts like hypothesis testing, significance, p-values, and confidence intervals. In this workshop, our aim is to unravel these terms and focus on the core ideas behind them. We will explore why results are presented in a certain way and learn how to make valid statistical conclusions in your own analysis, while avoiding common mistakes. By the workshop's conclusion, participants will have enhanced their statistical literacy and be better equipped to think and communicate more statistically.
