Workshop Description:
Writing a HDR thesis is a significant undertaking, demanding careful planning, research, and organisation. This workshop will clarify the content that should be included in a thesis and how to organise this content.
Tasks:
During the session, under guidance, candidates will be invited to:
- Plan how they will address the common concerns that examiners raise
- Identify the argument they will use to show how the unique features of their research address key problems or controversies,
- Uncover the key arguments they will propose to fulfill the protocols in their field,
- Plan the paragraphs in one section of their thesis.
Learning Outcomes:
Candidates will learn:
- The common concerns that examiners raise and how to prevent these concerns,
- How to demonstrate originality, critical thinking, and other key attributes in the thesis,
- Which protocols candidates should utilise to determine which content to include,
- How to organise their arguments persuasively and coherently.
