Workshop Description:

Research conducted as part of a PhD is of course very valuable to you and to your immediate research community. But how can you make your research valuable to broader audiences? This workshop will help you pitch your writing for publication.

Tasks:

During the session, under guidance, candidates will be invited to:

  • Unpack research paper abstracts and identify their composite elements
  • Identify the broader implications and possible impacts of your research project
  • Develop a short description of the scope and content of your research
  • Use these tools to start to develop an abstract for a research paper, a thesis chapter pitch and/or a book outline

Learning Outcomes:

Candidates will learn:

  • How to identify the implications of their research
  • How to summarise their research so that it is clear, informative and persuasive
  • How to start developing an abstract, a chapter pitch and/or a book outline
