The mentoring program runs over 10 weeks (weeks 2 - 12 of session) and you will:

  • be assigned an EIS Student Mentor studying in the same faculty who can provide you with the best experience possible
  • meet with your mentor regularly throughout session
  • attend tailored meetings according to your personal needs/ goals
  • be invited to exclusive EIS Mentoring Program networking events
  • receive UOWx recognition.

The EIS Mentoring Program can help you to settle into UOW and EIS as well as give you the opportunity to meet students studying the same degree, build networks, learn about student life and gain tools for success at Uni.

Applications open during Orientation (Autumn and Spring sessions). Keep an eye on your email.

  • The program is peer-based (It is ran by high-achieving EIS Senior students that are supported by Faculty staff) and co-designed by EIS students for EIS students!

  • It's a great way for you to build community in the Faculty. This program supports individuals with access to peers, a mentor to check in on them, someone to ask questions too and to seek advice from

  • A student space where you feel heard and supported.

The EIS Mentoring program is formally recognised through UOWx.

Discover the benefits of joining the program and the requirements needed to be UOWx recognised as an EIS Student Mentor Program Mentee.

If you are a current EIS student and interested in becoming a student mentor you can find out more information on the UOWx webpage.

You will:

  • attend an Orientation session to find out more about the program and mentor and mentee's roles and responsibilities
  • meet with your assigned mentor at agreed times to discuss your personal goals
  • be invited to exclusive social and networking events run by the EIS Student Mentor team.

EIS mentors are typically final-year EIS students who can assist you by:

  • familiarising you with your Faculty, School and UOW as a whole
  • sharing their knowledge and experience at UOW helping you navigate lectures, tutorials and UOW systems
  • helping broaden your support and friendship networks through a variety of social and study sessions.

NOTE: EIS Student Mentors cannot provide you with academic advice.

As student mentors can't provide academic advice, you may be assigned a mentor from a different School. Even though your mentor may be studying a different degree, they can still assist you settling into UOW and the Faculty as well as share their experiences as a student.

To apply for an EIS Student mentor, you will need to fill out a registration form and answer a few questions about yourself and also choose your mentor. Once your application is received, you will receive an email advising if your application for a mentor was successful. If successful, we will email you your mentor's contact information, and all you need to do is send them an introduction email along with your availability and they will reply and organise a time to meet with you.
