Safety Sign Pro - Safety Sign Monitoring System
Description
In Australia, companies have faced prosecution due to implications caused by mismanagement of safety signs. Safety Sign Pro have designed for our client, Micromax, a prototype safety sign monitoring system to effectively monitor the status of signage used in roadworks and construction sites. Our product uses a combination of technologies including an accelerometer, GPS module and LoRaWAN devices to alert users if safety signs have been compromised, moved or tipped over. Our prototype design fits any standard sized safety sign using its curved shape and adjustable hose clamp. All components are securely fastened inside an IP56 enclosure. The antenna and LoRaWAN device allows current accuracy to be within 10m. Our prototype has been designed to allow users accessibility to replace the battery module with ease and to carry out basic fault finding. We have also installed the on/off switch and battery in a location which makes it suitable and easier to replace without disrupting the system. Our team has been able to successfully design a prototype capable of efficiently monitoring safety signs to our clients needs.

Poseidon Capacitive Water Level Sensor
Description
‘Poseidon’ our water depth telemetry base station uses capacitive sensors to monitor water levels in remote and rural settings.
Our final product and design will be capable of lasting 5 years in application recording and transmitting several environment data variables including water depth. Our base station will also be equipped with a solar charger, an Astrocast IOT modem unitising UART for satellite communications and altimeter sensor.
This product is marketed for retrofit into existing council infrastructure or standalone device, targeting both government and private sectors.
This development has been made possible by our sponser Ontoto

Drone Delivery Supply Box Proposal (DSB)
Description
Throughout 2023 our team has developed a delivery drone box that will attach to a DJI Matrice 300 RTK. The team was split into two teams; Mechanical and Electrical. The mechanical team built and constructed the prototype with the use of SolidWorks and CAD, the box was then 3D printed. The electrical team used an ATMEGA16 and a photoresistor to operate a servo motor to open and close the door.

Smart Hearing Protection
Description
Helmex is a set of PPE headwear that will dramatically improve workers’ overall safety within the workplace. Whilst meeting the industrial safety requirements, our headwear will ensure the safety of each worker by delivering notifications across the worksite, ensuring that the user is always alert. The unique method of notification through bone conduction increases the inclusivity of the workplace, allowing everyone to stay safe and alert in industrial settings.
This video follows the basic understanding of how HelmeX operates with live demonstrations and a clear look into its electircal and mechanical components.

Modular Terrain Surveillance Rover
Description
The development of low-cost environmental sensors for use in educational settings. These include an electrical conductivity sensor to measure salinity and total dissolved solids, and an optical dissolved oxygen sensor based on the emission spectra of oxygen sensitive indicators. These sensors have been produced while prioritising cost-effectiveness and ease of use to make them suitable for use in schools. This would allow students to learn how STEM subjects can be applied toward monitoring the condition of their local soil and waterways.
