“Self-Defence is about equipping ourselves with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise, avoid and respond to harm in all aspects of our lives. It is about having options and knowing what we can do when it comes to protecting our boundaries and keeping ourselves safe from our partner, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, as well as from strangers. It encompasses mental, verbal and physical strategies that anyone can learn – it’s about being mentally prepared to protect ourselves and asserting our safety needs, with the ability to physically defend ourselves when we need to.” - Dr Lai.
